To raise money we are
selling the piano keys.

There are only 88 keys so don't delay!

Each key is going for $40.

Buy a whole key yourself or share with a buddy.
Claim the key as your own, or dedicate your key.

Would you like to buy a C sharp?
Perhaps you're more of a D flat person.

Buy a whole chord!      D major 7th?

Heck, buy a whole octave!

If you have no preference, let us know
and we'll pick a key for you.

Tell us which octave and key (or keys) you would like to buy:
There are 7 octaves of 12 keys (7 white, 5 black), plus 4 additional keys.
An octave starts with C. Middle C is the beginning of the 4th octave.
How to name the black keys:
As an example, use the first (lowest) black key on the keyboard.
The black keys are named as the sharp of the lower white key (e.g., A sharp)
or the flat of the higher white key (e.g., B flat).

Two ways to claim piano keys:

There is a "virtual piano keyboard" on the wall beside the main office. It will start out without any piano keys. You'll be able to claim your key by writing your name or dedication on one of the cardboard piano keys (which you can find in the main office) and attaching it to the keyboard. When the keyboard is complete, we've paid for our piano!

Alternatively, you can claim your keys by sending email to piano@brain.mcmaster.ca, and we will attach your keys on the virtual piano for you (unless the key has already been claimed).

The key is yours if you are the first person to claim it (physically pasting your key onto the virtual piano keyboard will trump email requests).

You can write a cheque (make it out to Judy Shedden) or you can give cash to any of the people below, or to the secretaries.

You have our gratitude, and the gratitude of many after us who will enjoy the piano for many years to come!
