Welcome to the Official Website for the
Annual McMaster University Brain Bee
Sponsored by the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour
and the Faculty of Science at McMaster
About the Brain Bee:
The Brain Bee is modeled after a spelling bee; high schools students from
grades 9 through 12 are eligible to compete. Students take turns answering
questions about the brain and neuroscience. Young men and women
from all over the world compete to determine who is the "best brain"
on such topics as intelligence, memory, emotions, sensations, movement,
stress, aging, sleep, addiction, and many other brain topics.
In a new three step
process, local competitions are held throughout the world, with
the winners invited to the National championships. In May 2008 McMaster University
hosted the First Annual CIHR National Canadian Brain Bee (http://brainbee.ca)!
It was very exciting! Winners from all over Canada came to Hamilton to compete for the National title, and
the National winner (Isdin Oke) represented Canada at the International level.
In 2009 we will did it again! And now, for the third time, McMaster University will host the third annual CIHR Canadian National Brain Bee in May 2010.
Students can start studying immediately using the official
Brain Facts primer (2005 edition) on the brain and nervous system, which you can download
for free (all questions for the regional McMaster Brain Bee will come from this book):
The Brain Facts book.
